LONGVIEW - Leighton Henson scored four times for Atlanta, including the game-winner midway through the fourth quarter, as Atlanta closed out the season with a 27-20 win over the Spring Hill Panthers at Panther Stadium.
Atlanta moves to 6-4 overall and 2-3 in District 7-4A Division II play. The Panthers end the season 3-7 and 0-5.
Henson put the visiting Rabbits on the board at the 9:01 mark of the first quarter with a 68-yard return of a blocked field goal, but the Panthers stormed back.
Gage White scored on a 3-yard run and Efren Barcenas tacked on the extra point with 4:57 to play to tie the contest at 7-7.
Then, at the 7:45 mark of the second quarter, the Panthers went in front 14-7 on Daryn Beck’s 7-yard run and the PAT by Barcenas.
Henson scored twice in the final 2:15 of the half, however, to give Atlanta a 20-14 halftime lead.
Henson’s first score came on a 19-yard run with 2:16 to play, and he later scored on a 2-yard run with five seconds remaining in the half.
That touchdown was set up by a Panther fumble.
In the third, with 6:02 t opaly, Beck scored from eight yards out after the Panthers recovered a fumble, but the PAT failed to leave the score knotted at 20-20 and set up Henson’s game-winning TD with 7:45 to play.
