Cody Brown struck out nine and Zane Ancell had four hits as the No. 1-ranked Tyler Junior College Apaches scored a 12-3 win over the Coastal Bend College Cougars Sunday at Mike Carter Field.

The Apaches (20-4, 3-0 Region XIV) belted out 13 hits en route to sweeping the weekend series with the Beeville school. TJC plays host to the UT Tyler JV at 6 p.m. Monday at Mike Carter.

Brown pitched six innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs.

Ancell was 4 for 5 with four RBIs. He had two doubles. Aaron Clements was 3 for 4 with three runs scored and an RBI. Both Derek Clemons and Reid Russell were both 2 for 4. Russell belted a homer and drove in three runs. Derek Clemons had two RBIS.

Zane Otten and Alex Masotto each had singles, while Brandon Webb scored two runs and an RBI.

Also on Sunday, the TJC Apache Ladies softball team traveled to Paris and split with the Lady Dragons. The Apache Ladies (30-8, 10-2 Region XIV) won the first game 3-2 and dropped the second contest 4-1.

Halie Vance tossed a three-hitter in the first game while striking out six.

Haley Mills, Halle Sabo and Marina Duran each had two hits.

Duran two RBIs, while Jaclyn Molenaar also drove in a run.
