The third-ranked Tyler Junior College women's soccer team took a decisive 5-0 win at home against No. 14 Navarro on Tuesday at Pat Hartley Soccer Complex.

Kelso Peskin and Sydney Tiiman each had two goals in the contest for Tyler and Kie Asai manipulated the Navarro defense throughout the game, assisting on two goals as well as scoring in the second half.

The Apache Ladies jumped out to an early lead, making use of the opening kickoff and maintaining possession until the first goal came after two minutes. Asai fed a short assist to Peskin, who opened the scoring with a goal in the lower left corner of the net.

Less than one minute later, Tiiman was able to corral a loose ball inside the box and beat the keeper for her first goal of the game.

Tyler was able to maintain the majority of possession throughout the first half, with Navarro making sporadic attacks to counter. With 17 minutes left in the first half, Asai crossed a long pass into the box, finding Tiiman in traffic. Tiiman was able to corral the pass and get a powerful shot off, finding the back of the net and giving the Apache Ladies a 3-0 halftime lead.

TJC opened the second half with another early goal, scoring on a free kick following a foul outside of the box. Jessica Chaveiro delivered an accurate pass from the right side of the field on the free kick, finding Peskin near the goal. Peskin was able to control the pass and play it to her right, finding the corner of the net to make it 4-0 with 44 minutes left in the second.

Asai scored the final goal of the game after receiving a long through pass from Ana Lesmes up the middle of the field. Asai was able to dribble up near the goal with defenders pressuring, finessing a low hooking shot into the lower right side of the goal.

Defensively for TJC, Yuria Miyake, Ari Assad, Ariel Howell and Victoria Alaniz were able to control the Navarro attackers and prevent their offense from developing. Leah Fish worked in goal for the Apache Ladies, finishing the game with a shutout.

The Apache Ladies (9-1) are back in action this Saturday, facing off against Hill College. That game is scheduled to be played on the campus of Richland College. Navarro (7-3-1) will be on the road against Paris.
