Young women from Tyler families are presented as rose royalty and ladies-in-waiting in the queen’s coronation ceremony.
Hanna Claire Waits is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Scott Waits of Tyler. She attends the University of Oklahoma, where she is majoring in finance and accounting with a minor in sports management.
Waits is active in Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority where she is on the academic committee and serves as the home town chair for sorority recruitment. She also is a member of the Sports Management Club.
She was a trainbearer for Queen Sarah Clyde in the 75th Texas Rose Festival in 2008. She served as a dresser in the 2017 and 2018 Rose Festivals.
Her mother, Laura Hanna Waits, was a lady-in-waiting in 1981 to Rose Queen Kay Fair. She has served the festival in various positions including Coronation Committee chairman in 2007 and Queen’s Tea chairman in 2018.
Waits’ father, Kenneth Scott Waits, was a member of the Rose Festival Association Executive Committee from 2013 to 2016 and the president in 2017.

She has been a junior hostess at the Queen’s Tea and was a backstage volunteer at the Queen’s Coronation in 2017 and 2018.
