Eight is Enough was a popular television series back in the late 1970s and early ‘80s.

As far as Alex Sinclair and his All Saints Trojans, seven was enough on Friday at Mewbourne Field.

Or it was just enough as Sinclair scored seven touchdowns in the Trojans’ 77-40 victory over rival Bishop Gorman.

Sinclair, the senior who was crowned homecoming king back on Sept. 28, also added 200 yards rushing on 25 carries in helping his team defeat the Crusaders for only the second time in eight meetings.

For his efforts, Sinclair was named the UT Health East Texas Offensive Player of the Week for the eighth week of the high school football season.

He will be featured on a poster, sponsored by UT Health East Texas, in Friday’s The Zone special section of the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

Sinclair follows Sabine senior running back BJ Stidham (Week 1), Big Sandy senior quarterback Caden Minter (Week 2), Bullard Brook Hill senior quarterback Garrett Esposito (Week 3), Chapel Hill quarterback Kobe Coker (Week 4), Grace Community running back Jeremiah Milton (Week 5), Whitehouse running back Peyton Kennedy (Week 6) and Mineola running back Trevion Sneed (Week 7) in garnering the award.

On the season, Sinclair has rushed for 293 yards and scored eight TDs on 39 carries. On defense, he has 15 tackles.

The Trojans are 5-2 on the season.

Fans can see Sinclair and the Trojans in action on Friday when All Saints plays Lewisville Founders Classical at Josey Ranch Sports Complex in Carrollton. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

I am a native Tylerite and I grew up reading the Tyler Morning Telegraph and The Tyler Courier-Times. My parents took both the morning and afternoon papers. I came to work here 35 years ago at the age of 23, right after college.
