After living in Tyler, Dallas, Ennis & Terrell, her family moved back to Tyler where she attended and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. She met and married Chip and they settled in Whitehouse.
Dawn then went on to receive an Associate’s Degree in Arts from Tyler Junior College, a Bachelor’s in Arts from the University of Texas at Tyler and a Master’s Degree in Arts from Stephen F. Austin State University.
After her studies, Dawn received her license as a Licensed Chemical and Dependency Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor. Counseling was Dawn’s true calling. Always at the ready with a listening ear and a genuine interest in how you were. Dawn also was a true friend to many. Freely giving out hugs at every opportunity.
Dawn is survived by her husband of 30 years, Thomas (Chip) McClain of Whitehouse, her mother Charlotte Maness of Tyler, her sister Shelly McNeel of Florida, her niece Brittany Molandes of Florida, her mother in law Emily McClain (Miss M) of Bullard, her sister in law Leslie McLean of Troup. Dawn is also survived by several great nieces and great nephews.
Dawn is preceded in death by her father Thomas W. Maness of Tyler, maternal grandfather Dan T. Campbell of Tyler, maternal grandmother Billie Campbell of Tyler, paternal grandmother Oma Maness of Tyler.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring of 2020. In lieu of flowers a donation to your favorite charity in her honor would be appreciated.
