GRANBURY, Texas (AP) - A counselor at a Texas juvenile jail has been charged after authorities say she had an inappropriate relationship with a former inmate.
KGBT-TV reports that 29-year-old Selena Marie Baxter is charged with violating the civil rights of a person in custody and indecency with a child by sexual contact.
Baxter is listed as a licensed professional counselor intern with the Texas Department of State Health Services. She met the 16-year-old boy while counseling at Lake Granbury Youth Services, a juvenile jail southwest of Fort Worth.
The boy's mother says she discovered inappropriate text messages between Baxter and her son after he returned home. The boy told investigators that he and Baxter engaged in sexual activity at a hotel in McAllen.
It wasn't immediately clear whether Baxter has an attorney.
