State Rep. Matt Schaefer, R-Tyler, could face at least one challenger in the March 2014 Republican primary for the District 6 seat.

Skip Ogle, director of community relations for Suddenlink Communications, will announce his candidacy 10 a.m. Tuesday at Stephenson Pharmacy, 1000 S. Fleishel Ave. in Tyler.

“As a solid conservative, Skip is focused on the protection of innocent life, the continued protection of our Second Amendment rights, instilling personal responsibility, defining the proper role of government and increasing educational opportunities for all Texans,” said the release.

Ogle graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in architecture and a Masters degree in city and regional planning. He has been a registered lobbyist representing companies such as Southwestern Bell Telephone and Suddenlink for more than a decade. He also owns and operates Skip Ogle Homes.
