4 injured in West Texas helicopter crash during deer survey

ALPINE, Texas (AP) - Authorities say four people have been hurt when a private helicopter crashed in West Texas while conducting a deer survey at a ranch.

The Brewster County Sheriff's Office says the accident happened late Friday afternoon about 22 miles south of Abilene.

Sheriff Ronnie Dodson says four people were on the helicopter when the aircraft clipped a tree and went down in rough terrain.

Officials say two people were slightly hurt but able to walk from the crash site to summon help and get treatment for minor injuries. Emergency personnel located the other two people at the accident scene and transported the duo to a hospital for treatment of more serious injuries.

Names of the victims weren't immediately released. The sheriff's office didn't immediately provide additional details Saturday.
