Dallas police shoot man after he runs over officer in nightclub parking lot

DALLAS (AP) - Police have shot a suspect who ran over and seriously injured an officer in the parking lot of a northwest Dallas nightclub.

The Dallas Morning News reports that ununiformed officers were working an off-duty job at the Kalua Discotheque early Monday when the suspect was escorted out by club security and told to leave the premises.

Dallas police Major Max Geron says the man backed up his SUV and struck one officer, and then drove over a curb and ran "completely over" the second officer. Officers fired multiple shots at the man.

The officer is in stable condition at a hospital. He has broken bones, a severe head laceration and other injuries.

The unidentified suspect is also believed to be in stable condition at a hospital.

The officer who was backed into wasn't injured.
