SPRING, Texas (AP) - A Harris County Sheriff's Office spokesman says a deputy fatally shot a woman in Spring who refused orders to drop a gun.
Sgt. Cedrick Collier says two deputies responded Monday night to a home in Spring, where they encountered a woman who family members said had been threatening to kill them. The family members also said the woman threatened to harm any law enforcement officers who responded.
Collier says the woman pulled up in a vehicle and got out with a pistol in her hand. He says she refused orders to drop it then pointed the gun at the two deputies. One deputy fired, striking the woman.
EMS was called to assist her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not immediately identified.
