On this date in 1971, Disney’s “The Million Dollar Duck” debuted featuring Sandy Duncan in her first movie role.

Duncan, who grew up in Tyler, plays the wife of a scientist who accidentally creates a duck that lays eggs of gold. 

Despite its silly premise, Duncan and co-star Dean Jones were nominated for Golden Globe Awards.
