A city panel approved a zoning change that could allow for more commercial and a multifamily housing development near South Broadway Avenue and West Cumberland Road. 

The city of Tyler's Planning and Zoning Commission on Tuesday approved a proposal to change nearly 87 acres zoned agricultural district to planned mixed-use development. 

The undeveloped land along South Broadway Avenue is across the street from the Village at Cumberland Park shopping center.
