Whitehouse man seeks wife using yard sign

WHITEHOUSE (KYTX) - A 54-year-old bachelor from Whitehouse is pulling out all the stops in his search for a wife. He's even using his front yard to advertise interest in a soulmate!

Gunny Moore was too shy to be interviewed on camera, but he wasn't too shy to make a Facebook with his yard sign.

The post has gotten over 1,000 shares.

"I think it's super sweet, there's all kinds of ways to meet people these days, people meet each other online all the time," said Chelsea Thompson.

Gunny's sign says his love interest must be between 45 and 54 years old and a single female.

People commenting on his post said things like, "Let me see if I can help."

"A little too needy?"

Others were interested, saying..."Hello, I'm what you're looking for."

CBS 19 interviewed others who said the act was bold.

"Definitely took some courage, but I would say I'm proud of him," said Kenneth Perry.

Perry also said,"he's trying and that's what women want, they want somebody to try."

Thompson said, "he's bold, he's very bold."

Others say his approach is a bit strange.

"I ain't that desperate," said Mike Clark.

CBS19 went to Dr. Wade French, a local psychologist.

We asked Dr. French if dating approaches have evolved over the years.

"What you see happening is because of the change in our social organization," said Dr. French.

"People have had to change the way they go about meeting potential mates," said Dr. French.

Dr. French says his studies have shown that people thrive in relationships.

He says whether the search for a mate is "traditional" or "not" is up to the individual.

"I'd like to know if he got any results," said Perry.
