A Flint area man was charged Wednesday in a case in which one toddler died and another survived being in a hot car, according to a Smith County news release.
Russel Lindstrom, 33, was charged with one count of manslaughter and one count of injury to a child. Bonds on the two charges were set at $150,000 and $50,000, respectively, the release states.
Two toddlers were found June 11 in a pickup truck with the windows rolled up. Sheriff's officials had received a 911 call from a person reporting two unresponsive toddlers inside a vehicle in the 18000 block of County Road 1100 near Flint.
EMS arrived and found two girls, ages 3 and 4. The 4-year-old was transported to a local hospital, where she died. The 3-year-old was hospitalized overnight for observation and released.
After an investigation, warrants were issued for Lindstrom and signed by Judge Christi Kennedy of the 114th District Court.
Lindstrom was arrested at a mobile home park in the 17000 block of Highway 155 South. He was booked into the Smith County Jail.
The Smith County Sheriff's Office is continuing to work with CPS on the investigation regarding the surviving child. Additional information will be released as it becomes available, the news release states.
