The John Tyler High School Big Blue Band performed their first march-a-thon event on Saturday, August 24, 2013 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., sharing their award-winning music with the community. The band marched through streets, stopping at certain homes to perform lawn concerts. This event kicked off fundraising efforts to finance the band’s trip to Disneyland in Anaheim, California, where they will perform.

Four different parade routes were used: The first leg was in the Pine Brook addition behind John Tyler High School. The second traveled down Cecil, Northridge and 29th streets ending at Dogan Middle School. The third leg traveled through the Normandy Heights addition and the fourth leg routed through Briarwood Estates. The march-a-thon culminated with a performance at Stewart Middle School.

Donations to the Big Blue Band March-a-Thon were collected on parade routes and can also be mailed to 1120 NNW Loop 323 Tyler, Texas 757502, delivered in person to the John Tyler Band Hall, or arrangements can be made for a band director to pick them up. Please make checks payable to JT Band Parent Organization.
