The suspect in the death of an 11-year-old East Texas boy has turned himself in.
Josue Alejandro Prado Ramirez, 21, of Athens, turned himself in to Henderson County Jail on the Tyler Police Department warrant for accident involving death of Damarion Williams, according to a department news release.
Williams was found dead Sunday morning in the median near the 9800 block of U.S. Highway 271 North. Investigators determined he had been struck by a vehicle.
At the time, police did not know his identity because he had no identification on him.
However, Williams' mother called the Smith County Sheriff's Office to report him missing about 3 p.m. Sunday and investigators determined he was the victim.
After contacting a witness to the collision, investigators found the suspect vehicle in Athens and found probable cause to secure an arrest warrant for Ramirez.
Ramirez has been charged with accident involving death, a second-degree felony, and Judge Jack Skeen set his bond at $250,000.
