Tyler residents looking for summer fun now have more choices.
The city of Tyler has partnered with Tyler ISD to offer free access to its Aquatic Center as well as transportation to the facility, the city announced Tuesday.
The partnership comes after the city’s recent announcement that its only municipal pool, located in Fun Forest Park, will be closed down this summer.
Residents can use the Tyler ISD Aquatic Center, 3150 Robertson Road, free of charge during specified times in the summer: 1:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday, 1:30-3:30 p.m. Friday for lap swim only, 2-7 p.m. Saturday and 1-7 p.m. Sunday.
Tyler Transit also is offering free transport for children under the age of 17 to the closest bus stop to Tyler ISD Aquatic Center as well as the Bergfeld Park and Faulkner Park splash pads. Children under the age of 12 will be required to travel with an adult.
Glass Recreation Center also will offer free summer memberships to children under the age of 17 for June, July and August. At the Tyler Parks and Recreation office, a family also can pick up a free seven-day pass to the Tyler Athletic and Swim Club.
