Tyler wastewater operator receives Operator of Year Award

The city of Tyler’s Patrick Terrell, operator III at the Westside Wastewater Treatment Plant, received the Operator of the Year Award for the East Texas Region for cities with a population of more than 10,000 from the Texas Water Utilities Association. 

The award is given annually during the TWUA Regional School.

Terrell’s passion for working in wastewater has spanned 25 years. In 2006, he joined the City of Tyler as a relief operator/ plant operator II. Today, as plant operator III, he oversees all maintenance at the Westside Water Treatment facility, as well as helping to manage operations and personnel.

“ We are very proud of Patrick for winning tis award,” stated Mike Norris, manager for water quality. “He works hard and does a great job on a daily basis.” 

The award recognizes individuals for service to their utility, community, the profession as a whole and to TWUA and its goals.
