Traffic routes will change at Lindsey Park on Spur 364 for the city's Fourth of July celebration on Tuesday.

The Tyler Police Department will be directing traffic at Lindsey Park. Drivers will be directed to enter the main entrance off of Spur 364. The Greenbriar Road park entrance will be a one-way exit only.

Spur 364 at Loop 323 will be closed to westbound traffic at 9 p.m. Residents who live between Spur 364 and Loop 323 may get to their homes by showing their driver's license with proof of residency to the officer's directing traffic. Officers will allow residents  to proceed westbound on Spur 364.

After the Fireworks show all eastbound traffic on Spur 364 will be forced to turn right onto Loop 323.

Fireworks are prohibited inside the city limits unless a special permit has been obtained from the city. People caught discharging fireworks in the Lindsey park will be asked to leave and may be subject to a citation. No alcohol or smoking are allowed in the Tyler city parks.

Police want to remind citizens that discharging firearms into the air in celebration is a violation of the law. Some see this as a harmless expression of good cheer or a cultural expression of celebration, according to the department.
