Tyler police investigating store robbery Tuesday night

The Tyler Police Department is seeking the suspect in the robbery of a local business that took place Tuesday evening.

According to reports, TPD officers responded to a robbery of a business in progress at 8:38 p.m. Tuesday at Citi-Trends, 1206 West Bow St. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found that the suspect had just left in an unknown direction. Officers fanned out and searched the area, but did not find the suspect.

Several employees of the store were inside when the robbery occurred, a TPD news release stated, but no one was hurt.

According to reports, the employees said the perpetrator, an unidentified black male, entered the store wearing all black clothing, gloves and had a covered face. One of the employees, not seen by the perpetrator, was able to hide and call 911 as the robbery occurred.

Once inside, the suspect went to the back of the store, where he confronted one of the employees with a handgun, the news release stated. That employee was forced to the front of the store and directed to open the cash registers.

The suspect removed an undisclosed amount of cash and then fled the area in an unknown direction.

This is an active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Tyler Police Department.
