Tyler Police Assistant Chief Billy Yates graduates from the FBI National Academy

Assistant Chief Billy Yates

Tyler Police Department Assistant Chief Billy Yates graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virgina on Wednesday.

He was among about 225 people accepted to this 10-week session of the academy.

Nominees go through a rigorous vetting process against law enforcement professionals around the world. The leadership opportunity is set aside for less than 1 percent of all law enforcement officers worldwide.

Yates is one of 10 former and current staff officers in the Tyler Police Department who have graduated from the FBI National Academy.
