A man was arrested Sunday for allegedly robbing a Tyler donut shop at knifepoint.

Shortly after 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a robbery call at the Donut Palace on South Broadway, just north of SW Loop 323.

A store employee reported that a man, later identified as Edward George, 33, came in asking for money, but she declined, and the man left.

George returned a few minutes later with a “large knife” and demanded money, police said.

The clerk called 911 and George exited the store, police said.

Officers arrived on scene and found George in a nearby parking lot. George, a Tyler resident, was still in possession of the knife when police found him, according to a TPD news release.

Police charged George with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, and took him to Smith County Jail.
