Tyler ISD board member Brad Spradlin has resigned from his position effective Monday.

Spradlin represents single member District 5 and has served on the board for 11 years, according to a TISD news release.

Spradlin cited a desire for greater focus and balance on family and business responsibilities as factors in his decision.

Board President the Rev. Orenthia Mason said the board will consider the option to appoint someone to fill the vacancy for Single Member District 5, according to the news release.

A special election will be called for May 2014. At that time, the candidate elected by voters will complete the term due to expire in May 2015.
