Tyler's airport will receive another grant through the Federal Aviation Administration, the latest in a long line of grants that have helped bring more flights and planning to the airport.

Tyler Pounds Regional Airport was awarded a $100,000 federal grant to rehabilitate 10,900 feet of perimeter fence to protect the safety of the airfield, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn announced Tuesday.

“Access to safe and efficient infrastructure is critical as so many Texans travel for work, leisure and visiting loved ones,” Cornyn said in a news release.

“I proudly supported this funding in the Senate, and I thank President Trump and (Department of Transportation) Secretary (Elaine) Chao for supporting the safety of Texans traveling to and from Tyler," Cornyn said.
