The Texas Department of Transportation will host an open-house meeting on Thursday where they hope to receive input from residents about proposed widening alternatives for FM 2493 from FM 346 in Flint to US 69 in Bullard.
The latest information, including three proposed designs, will be presented at the meeting, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria at Bullard High School, 1426 Houston St.
Residents are encouraged to attend and talk to TxDOT personnel about concerns they might have regarding the project and its impact on their property. Public input will assist in identifying a recommended alignment that will improve safety and ease congestion through the area.
Enhancements to FM 2493 include: widening from a two-lane to a four-lane roadway with curb and gutter, adding a continuous center left-turn lane to provide additional safety for drivers and incorporating sidewalks and bicycle lanes for pedestrians and cyclists.
The recommended alignment will be presented for public comment at a future public meeting and would be evaluated in an environmental assessment. The assessment reviews possible impacts the project may have on the environment and is anticipated to gain clearance in winter 2017. The project also requires the acquisition of additional right of way.
Thursday’s meeting is an open house format with no formal presentation. Residents may come and go at their convenience.
