Tyler Parks and Recreation will host two Outdoor Adventure Series events scheduled this week. Last year, the City of Tyler was awarded a $33,000 grant to bring more outdoor adventure programs to the East Texas area for FREE. These events range from family camping, kayaking, archery and fishing.
On Tuesday, June 21, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., there will be a parks clean up event at the following locations:
City Park: 200 W. Queen Ave.
Emmett Scott Park: 1710 N. Confederate Ave.
Pollard Park: 710 E. Amherst St.
Each of these locations coincides with the Summer Playground program. Participants will be provided with garbage bags for collecting trash.
On Saturday, a free paddle boarding clinic will be held at the Lake Tyler Petroleum Club. There will be two sessions held at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. by Felipe Garcia, owner of the Paddle Boarding Company. Participants must be 16 years of age or older and will be required to wear a personal floatation device at all times. Sessions are limited to 10 students per session.
It is strongly recommended that participants in either event bring water and wear sunscreen.
