For the 15th consecutive year, Tyler Junior College and The University of Texas at Tyler wil host Hispanic high school students and their parents to get a closer look at college life.

El Camino al Colegio (The Road to College) is set 8:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. Saturday,  at Saint Peter Claver Catholic Church, 615 W. Cochran St., in Tyler.

Representatives from TJC, UT Tyler and Texas College will give presentations (in English and Spanish) on a variety of topics, including:

• Financial aid

• Scholarships

• Workforce trends

• Literacy Council of Tyler

The event will conclude with a free lunch.

“The goal of this event is to inform families about college opportunities right here in Tyler, as well as the financial assistance that is available,” said Nidia Hassan, TJC director of admissions.

“Information will provided in a setting that is friendly and approachable. It is conducted in Spanish for the Spanish-speaking families, and it is completely free to the public.”
