A Tyler Junior College student was found dead at an on-campus dorm Saturday, but no foul play is suspected.
TJC police received a call about 7:50 p.m. Saturday about an unresponsive female student at one of the residence halls, according to a college news release.
EMS was immediately notified and evaluated the student. However, a justice of the peace pronounced her dead and requested an autopsy to determine cause of death, according to the college’s statement.
TJC Police will investigate the incident, according to the news release.
The college notified the student’s family and administrative staff met them on campus.
“The TJC community is deeply saddened by the student’s death and extends its deepest sympathy to the family,” the news release reads. “Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to utilize the campus resources available to aid in this time of grief.”
