Texas Rangers investigating officer-involved shooting at Lindale club

The Texas Rangers were investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened at a club in Lindale on Friday.

The incident happened at Jackie’s New Office Club, 2707 S. Main St.

Staff Sgt. Jean Dark with the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed there was an officer-involved shooting and said the Texas Rangers were asked to investigate at the request of the Lindale Police Department.

She said she was notified of the incident at 11:40 p.m. Friday. However, that was after it had happened. She said the Texas Rangers wouldn’t release any information about the investigation until it is handed over to the District Attorney’s office.

Attempts to get information from other sources were unsuccessful. When reached Saturday, Lindale police said a news release would be forthcoming. However, as of Monday evening, no information had been released.

When reached on Monday, Lindale police dispatchers said they could not comment on the incident and that all information had to come from the Texas Rangers.

Lindale Mayor Jeff Daugherty said Monday evening he did not have a full incident report yet, and only knew the Texas Rangers were investigating the incident because a police department cannot investigate itself.
