Two teenagers were killed and two others were injured Saturday in a one-vehicle crash in Van Zandt County.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the crash shortly before 6 p.m. about 3 miles north of Ben Wheeler on Farm-to-Market Road 773, according to a department news release.

DPS said a preliminary crash investigation revealed Martha Geale Vela, 17, of Ben Wheeler was driving North on FM 773 in a 2009 Dodge Journey when she gradually drove off the roadway.

DPS said she swerved back onto the road into the opposite lane of travel before she overcorrected to the right and went into the east side ditch where the SUV began to roll from the left driver's side.

Two 15-year-old boys who were riding unrestrained in the backseat were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to DPS.

DPS said Vela and another passenger, a 16-year-old girl were taken to Christus Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler.

The crash remains under investigation.
