The Tyler Fire Department extinguished a fire Monday night at a Walmart gas station on Highway 64 West in Tyler.

Tyler Fire Marshal Paul Findley said a fuel tanker was unloading fuel when it somehow caught fire. The fire department received the call just before 7:30 p.m.

Findley said the source of the ignition has not been identified, but a passing vehicle could be the cause. Foul play is not suspected. Investigators were looking into the ignition source.

Units at scene extinguished the flames using foam. The fuel station is shut down until the state reviews it for safety. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has been contacted regarding the incident, Findley said.

No injuries were reported.

He added that the fuel supply was shut off in a timely manner.
