The Smith County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation after three people, including an eighth-grader at Winona ISD, were found dead with gunshot wounds inside a house in Winona.

Although the Sheriff's Office had not yet released the identities as of Monday evening pending notification of family, Winona ISD identified the girl as Olivia Monteagudo, according to a  post on the district's Facebook page.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends during this difficult time," Winona ISD Superintendent Cody Mize said in the post. "Counselors will be made available for staff and students as needed throughout the week."

Mize asked for all counselors, youth pastors and pastors to meet at the Winona Middle School library at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Deputies were dispatched to the 900 block of Dallas Street shortly after 12:30 p.m. Monday when the son of one of the victims asked that a welfare check of the residence be conducted due to the girl not showing up for school.

Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith said the victims were a husband and wife and their daughter.

He said the bodies were found inside the house.

Smith said the names and ages of the victims would not be released until family members were notified.

He would not disclose if a weapon was found, but said no suspect was being sought and there was no need for neighbors to be concerned for their safety.

Autopsies and toxicology tests have been ordered.
