The Smith County Veterans Service Office now offers two public access computers for veterans to access their e-benefits accounts via the Internet.

Smith County Veterans Service Officer Michael Roark said he would help veterans create an e-benefit account if they do not have one.

The online account allows veterans to access and update their benefits, including track the progress of their claims with the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, change their address or direct deposit information and see their VA health exam schedule or refill prescriptions.

Roark's office assists veterans, their dependents and surviving spouses with a variety of benefit-based services.

The Veterans Service office, at 210 E. Ferguson, is open from 8 a.m. to noon and 1-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. They stop taking walk-ins at 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and on Fridays. The office takes appointments from 1-4:30 p.m.
