The well-dressed, Mercedes-driving bank robber, who robbed two women collecting weekend deposits outside the Capital One Bank on Loop 323 near Copeland Road earlier this month, has been arrested and identified as the bank's corporate security consultant.
Don Martin, with the Tyler Police Department, said an investigation by his agency and the FBI netted the information leading to the arrest of Daniel River Burson, 37, of McKinney.
On Aug. 11, authorities said Burson — wearing a suit and hosiery over his head — ordered the two women to drop the money bags and not to look at him.
Martin said at the time, landscapers working in the area saw the man get into a dark colored Mercedes sedan and leave the area.
Burson was arraigned in federal court on Tuesday afternoon and has been detained in the Smith County Jail with no bond.
Martin said Burson was employed by Capital One Bank as a corporate Security Consultant.
Martin said police are still asking for information leading to the arrests of three bank robbers who robbed the Austin Bank at Loop 323 and Shaw Street on the following day.
The men were described as three black males all armed with guns and covered with long sleeve clothing and masks.
Martin said the $25,000 reward is still available for anyone with information leading to the mens' arrest.
