Robbery at Citi-Trends in Tyler; suspect still at large

Sergeant Adam Colby, Tyler Police Department

Tyler police are searching for a suspect after the Tuesday night robbery of Citi Trends clothing store, 1206 West Bow.

At approximately 8:38 p.m., officers responded to a robbery in progress at the store. When they arrived, the suspect had just left in an unknown direction. Officers fanned out and searched the area without finding him.

Several employees of the store were inside when the robbery occurred, but no one was hurt. The employees stated that the perpetrator entered the store wearing all black. His face was covered and he was wearing gloves, but the victims believe he is a black male.

One of the employees was not seen by the suspect. The employee was able to hide and call 911 as the robbery occurred. Once inside, the suspect proceeded to the back of the store where he confronted one of the employees with a handgun. That employee was forced to the front of the store and directed to open the cash registers. The suspect removed an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.

This is an active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Tyler Police Department.
