RUSK — There’s a new gym in town. Raw Iron Gym held its grand opening and ribbon cutting in Rusk last week. The gym, which also recently opened branches in Jacksonville and Tyler, is located at 981 W. Sixth St.
As part of the grand opening celebration on Jan. 18, the gym held group classes, competitions and door prizes.
Raw Iron is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Additional perks include discounted membership fees for teachers and first responders.
Rusk resident and schoolteacher Hillary Chapman said, “I joined Raw Iron because of the convenience of location and hours. I work in Jacksonville and live in Rusk, so it takes away some of my excuses not to work out like I should. Also, that $1 sign up for January was a good deal.”
The gym also offers prepared meals through its Raw Nutrition program.
Massage therapist Crystal Gafford has a room in all three locations.
Co-owners Roger and Misty Tutor and Michael Mathis plan powerlifting meets throughout the year, offering diverse classes and holding fitness contests for members.
“We hope to make a positive impact in lives throughout the community and be an uplifting location with opportunities for people to reach their health and fitness goals,” Mathis said.
