East Texas artist Sylvia Morse will be honored with the People's Choice Award for her depiction of a downtown garden on a temporary barricade in front of the Plaza Tower in Tyler.
The building, which is on the downtown square, is undergoing a renovation that will include retail and office space in the area that was formerly the Bank of America lobby, according to a news release.
As part of the construction process, a temporary barricade was placed in front of the building and in May a group of preselected local artists painted on it.
Community members had until June 15 to vote for their favorite artwork and at noon Thursday, the artists will gather in the Plaza Tower's lobby for the presentation.
The celebration will continue with lunch on the square and participation in the weekly Tunes at Noon event.
Participating artists are: Gracyn Campbell, Dace Lucia Kidd, Dawn Melton, Olivia Melton, Sylvia Morse, Jennifer Thompson and Candace Williams.
