One man died after a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning on Texas Highway 149 in Gregg County.
Gregory Lloyd Mishler, 62, died 1.5 miles south of the city of Lakeport about 6:55 a.m. Thursday, according to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
According to the DPS, a preliminary crash investigation revealed Mishler was driving a 2001 Ford Mustang southbound on Texas 149 at an unsafe speed for the wet road conditions.
A 2013 Ford F-150, driven by Rickey Lane Lee, 48, of Center, was traveling northbound on the same roadway.
The Ford Mustang, driven by Mishler, hydroplaned, lost control and entered a right-side skid, crossing the center stripe of the roadway and into oncoming traffic. The Ford F-150, driven by Lee, struck the right side of the Mustang, according to the DPS report.
Mishler was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
Lee was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, where he was treated and released. The investigation is ongoing.
