Mississippi woman killed, 2 others injured in crash


A Mississippi woman was killed and two others were injured Sunday in a two-vehicle crash near Winona. 

Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the crash shortly after 1 p.m. A preliminary investigation showed Nikisha Brooks, 34, of Gulfport, Mississippi, was traveling south on Texas Highway 155 North in a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. Brooks crossed into the northbound lane and struck a 2007 Chevrolet Yukon driven by Christopher Suttle, 37, of Flint. 

Brooks was pronounced dead on scene.

Suttle was transported to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler in serious condition. A passenger, identified as Tara Suttle, 38, of Flint was transported to ETMC-Tyler in stable condition.  

The crash remains under investigation.
