Memorial service for fallen officers, former sheriff J.B. Smith talk among upcoming East Texas events

 

Tyler Police Department to hold memorial service for fallen peace officers

The Tyler Police Department will hold its annual Peace Officer Memorial Service at noon Monday at the T.B. Butler Fountain Plaza.

All Peace Officers and citizens are encouraged to attend this service to pay tribute to Texas Peace Officers who died while performing their duties.

 

Local author, Former Smith County Sheriff J.B. Smith, to speak at Tyler library

The Tyler Public Library will host author and former Smith County Sheriff J.B. Smith, from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Tyler Public Library, 201 S. College Ave.

Smith, author of “The Unholy Ghost Murder” and “The Christmas Day Murders,” will offer a talk on murder and mayhem in Smith County, followed by an author meet and greet.

He will be selling and signing copies of his books with a portion of proceeds going to Friends of the Tyler Public Library.

The meet and greet is part of a series made possible by a sponsorship from the Friends of the library. An up-to-date list of upcoming author events will be posted on the library’s website.
