Through the Fourth Annual Santas for Seniors gift drive, East Texans can provide much-needed items to seniors in need.

Alpha Media Group and Meals on Wheels are putting on the drive through on Dec. 16. Radio personalities and Meals on Wheels volunteers and staff will deliver the items to homebound seniors.

“Simple gifts like warm robes, fresh toiletries, candles and blankets bring joy and comfort to people who spend much of the holiday season alone,” Meals on Wheels Ministry President and CEO Mike Powell said, according to a news release. “Without this program, many wouldn’t have a Christmas gift.”

Donors can drop off an unwrapped gift at one of the following locations: Alpha Media Group in Tyler, 210 S. Broadway Ave., and Longview, 4408 U.S. Highway 259 North; Meals on Wheels Ministry, 3001 Robertson Road, Tyler; and all Tyler Starbucks locations.

The following items are some of the most-needed and would make good gifts: winter apparel such as jackets, shoes, robes, house shoes, socks and pajamas; small home appliances such as toasters, microwaves, small heaters, telephones, clocks and radios; home, bed and bath items such as comforters/sheets, blankets, towels and personal toiletries.

Call Zoe Lawhorn at 903-525-0906 with any questions, or visit www.mowmet.org for a complete list of drop-off locations and gift ideas.

Meals on Wheels Ministry serves almost 3,000 seniors and homebound individuals in 30 communities in six counties, including Gregg, Henderson, Smith, Upshur, Van Zandt and Wood.
