Smith County officials on Tuesday released the name of the man who died in a Monday house fire.
Donald Glenn Cooper, 49, of Tyler, was pronounced dead at a Tyler hospital after he was injured in the house fire Monday morning in the 13800 block of County Road 220, near Chapel Hill.
“At this time, the investigation into the death of Mr. Cooper and the origin and cause of the fire is still ongoing,” Smith County Fire Marshal Jay Brooks said.
The Smith County Sheriff’s Office and the Smith County Fire Marshal’s Office are conducting concurrent investigations, both of which are still active, according to a news release from the county.
“Because these are active investigations no further information will be released at this time,” Brooks said.
According to officials, emergency crews responded around 10:45 a.m. Monday to a fire in the 13800 block County Road 220 near New Chapel Hill.
Two people were at the home and taken to the hospital, according to information from the county. Officials say one was inside at the time of the fire and died.
