A man found dead on Aug. 19 in Smith County died of natural causes, according to a news release from the Smith County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were sent to an area near Jim Hogg Road and Interstate 20 after a caller said a body had been found in a wooded area.
On Tuesday, an autopsy was performed on the body at Forensic Medical in Tyler, according to the sheriff’s office. The preliminary autopsy results indicate the man died of natural causes and exposure. There were no signs of trauma or foul play discovered during the autopsy, according to the news release.
A tentative identification of the individual is imminent, but will not be made available until family members have been notified, according to the sheriff’s office.
