Man arrested, accused of ramming police cars during high-speed chase


WOOD COUNTY - A man who led law enforcement officers on a high-speed vehicle pursuit and manhunt Tuesday has been arrested.

William Eric Potter, 30, is accused of leading officers on a chase starting at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday on Texas Highway 312. He then led several agencies on a chase through Winnsboro into Franklin County then back into Wood County.

After hitting several law enforcement units, Potter's vehicle crashed at Highway 37 and Farm-to-Market Road 14 then he led officers on a foot chase.

The manhunt lasted for several hours until he was found by a tracking dog team from The Texas Department of Corrections.

Potter was found near County Road 4761 in Wood County and taken into custody without further incident.

Potter was booked for an outstanding warrant for parole violated and additional charges are pending, including evading and aggravated assault against a public servant.

Potter is being held without bond in the Wood County Jail. No injuries were reported.
