Longview man, 37, arrested on multiple charges after fleeing from police

LONGVIEW - A Longview man was arrested Sunday on multiple charges following a traffic stop, during which the suspect fled in the scene in the vehicle and later on foot.

According to reports, a Longview police officer stopped a vehicle for a brake light problem in the 600 block of Pine Tree Road on Sunday night.

The Longview police Facebook page stated, "the officer was talking to the driver outside of the car when the rear passenger jumped into the front seat and fled with the vehicle." The suspect wrecked the vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers arrested Draper Demetric Kennedy, 37, after he allegedly lied to police about his identity.

Kennedy had narcotics, baggies to distribute narcotics and two firearms, one of which was a stolen firearm.

Kennedy was arrested for:

-Two counts of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance more than four grams, but less than 200 grams

-Two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon

-Tampering with identification numbers

-Evading arrest/detention on foot with prior convictions

-Evading arrest in a vehicle

-Theft of property

-Fail to identify fugitive- intentionally give false information

-Motion to revoke probation for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance

-Warrant issued out of Van Zandt County

-One outstanding city warrant
