Local toddler wins pageant


JaRiyah Walker, the 23-month-old daughter of Tyler residents Sheadrena Walker and Robert Green, took home the Tiny Miss Southwest Texas State title, the Baby Miss America Pageant announced.

JaRiyah competed for the title at the Texas State Regional Pageant, Oct. 2 to 4 in Houston. She was chosen as a candidate-at-large winner from more than 900 Texas children.

She will compete in the Baby Miss America National Pageant next weekend in Houston.

The pageant aims to help children develop poise, self-esteem and a positive attitude toward reaching their potential, according to pageant information.
