Alan Sears, president, CEO and general counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom (formerly Alliance Defense Fund), will speak at the "Breakfast of Champions: Leadership Lessons for Men" from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. May 3 at Green Acres Baptist Church.
"Alliance Defending Freedom is a servant ministry building an alliance to keep the door open for the spread of the Gospel by transforming the legal system and advocating for religious liberty, the sanctity of life, marriage and family," reads the website. "Recognizing the need for a strong, coordinated legal defense against growing attacks on religious freedom, more than 30 prominent Christian leaders launched Alliance Defending Freedom in 1994. Over the past 18 years, this unique legal ministry has brought together thousands of Christian attorneys and like-minded organizations that work tirelessly to advocate for the right of people to freely live out their faith in America and around the world."
The organization has argued against the HHS mandate, Proposition 8 at the Supreme Court and Planned Parenthood.
"What I'm going to do during my time with you is talk about some of the severe challenges that we face as Americans, as followers of Christ, and what the impact will be in shaping what tomorrow looks like in America," Sears said in a release about the event. "But I'm also going to give you some really good news. I'm going to talk about some of the incredible victories that God has given in areas where no one thought a year or two, or five years ago, that it was possible to have any success."
The buffet line at the event opens at 6:07 a.m. Cost is $10. Tickets are available at www.gabc.org or at the Green Acres Bookstore through April 30.
