It’s a busy time for new restaurants in Tyler. La Madeleine Country French Café will open its Tyler restaurant next week; Aspen Creek Grill will hold its grand opening Monday, while Nékter Juice Bar and Gusterz Gourmet Pops have both opened recently in The Village at Cumberland Park.
An email from La Madeleine confirms that an invitation-only event is slated for Monday, Dec. 12. The restaurant will have a soft opening on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
Mark Whatley, a broker with Burns Commercial Properties, announced in summer 2015 that La Madeleine would be the anchor tenant in a planned shopping center in the northwest corner of Old Bullard Road and Loop 323.
Since then, the center has added Old Chicago Pizza and Orangetheory Fitness.
“The center turned out great,” Whatley said. “And I’m so glad to have La Madeleine here. I’ve been trying to get a La Madeleine for 10 years, and I know others have as well.”
The center should be ready for the influx of diners, Whatley added.
“We really overbuilt the parking in that center,” he said. “We put in one and a half times what the code calls for. So I think we’re ready. I’m not saying it won’t get a little crazy - after all, who would have thought that last month we’d need the traffic police out for the opening of a grocery store? We saw that at Aldi, on the West Loop. But we’re ready, I think.”
La Madeleine is famous for its Tomato Basil Soup, chocolate croissants and Beef Bourguignon.
La Madeleine de Corps Inc. operates the La Madeleine restaurants. There are approximately 75 locations in five states.
“When Patrick Leon Esquerré came to America, he brought the tastes of the French countryside with him,” the company’s website states. “He grew up in the Loire Valley region of post World War II France, where meal times revolved around homegrown, hand-prepared food, friends, family and heartfelt conversation. Patrick missed the joys of his hometown. He yearned for the aroma of fresh-baked baguettes and lingering over an espresso at the corner café. So he decided to create his own.”
Aspen Creek Grill has announced a grand opening date of Monday, Dec. 12, at its newest location, 1725 W. Southwest Loop 323 (the old Johnny Carino’s Italian Restaurant building near Old Jacksonville Highway).
“In addition to more than 100 new jobs in the area, Aspen Creek Grill will also provide some of the freshest, from-scratch made meals and beverages in Tyler,” company spokesperson Carrie Shoaf said.
Aspen Creek Grill specializes in American cuisine that includes pasta dishes, their famous double-double burgers, dressings, salsa and hand-cut steaks that are all cooked in-house.
Local restaurateur Derek Shaw will host a grand opening for Nékter Juice Bar from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. According to a news release, Nékter “offers a wide range of fresh, unprocessed, nutrient-rich, and affordable juices, smoothies, acai bowls and juice cleanses.”
Shaw was looking for a franchise that offered healthy fare, the release states.
“After my father had a massive heart attack, we struggled to find places where he could find alternatives to sugar and fat-laden menus,” Shaw said.
Nékter Juice Bar is in The Village at Cumberland Park at 8934 S. Broadway Ave., Suite 402 between FD’s Grillhouse and Zales.
According to its website, “Gusterz Gourmet Pops is locally owned and excited to offer a wide variety of delicious frozen pops made fresh on site to our East Texas community.”
Gusterz is at 8934 S. Broadway Ave., Ste. 432 in The Village at Cumberland Park.
