LONGVIEW (KYTX) - A jury says Longview Bridge and Road discriminated against a former employee when he was let go in 2012.
Jimmie Jackson says he worked for the highway contractor 13 years, but he was forced out six weeks after his bosses learned he was approaching 60 years old. Longview Bridge and Road denied the claim.
Jurors sided with Jackson, awarding him $58,000 for lost wages, plus $25,000 in compensatory damages - for a total of $83,000 plus fees to pay his attorney, Grace Weatherly, of Denton.
Attorneys Brian Bunt and Zachary Austin, who represented Longview Bridge and Road, have not said if the company will appeal.
